Dr. Jenkins is a philosopher but also a rock legend

Phil Jenkins Picture Boom

Phil Jenkins is a philosopher, teacher, musician, and all-around indoorsman. He is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Marywood, where he teaches courses in Critical Thinking, and Race, Class, and Gender. His main lines of research are in philosophy of music, philosophy of psychology, and ethics.

As a long time rock drummer in Austin, San Francisco, and New York City in the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s, Phil managed to be one of the very few rock drummers in the country to live through that era without getting a single tattoo.

In his spare time, when he’s not grading, writing philosophy, or serving on committees he thinks about ways the world might be changed to be a better place. Then he thinks of ways it would be better for it to stay like it is so he won’t have to get up.

“Without music, life would be a mistake.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
